Annapolis, Maryland--The Thomas Point Shoal Light is currently the last unaltered screwpile cottage-type lighthouse on its original foundation in the United States. The light was built and activated in November of 1875. Concerns of its preservation brought it National Register of Historic Places listing in 1975, to be succeeded by National Historic Landmark status in 1999..
